Safe Online Notepad with Dark Mode
A browser notepad with a dark mode that's actually dark — designed from the ground up, not a paint job on a light theme.
Open the notepad →What makes this dark mode different
Most online notepads added dark mode as an afterthought. The result is grey-on-grey text that strains your eyes, status bars that glow at you, and a wrong-theme flash every time the page loads. We did it right.
- Designed for dark from the start. True deep backgrounds (
#1a1a1a,#202020), properly contrasted body text, calibrated accent colors that don't vibrate against the background. - Follows your system. If your OS is in dark mode, the notepad opens in dark mode. No setting required.
- Manual override. Toggle from the View menu or press Ctrl+D. Your choice persists across visits.
- No flash of wrong theme (FOWT). The theme is applied inline before any rendering, so you never see a white flash.
- Theme-color meta updates the browser chrome on mobile to match, so the address bar darkens too.
Why this matters for late-night writing
If you write at night, a bright white textarea is the difference between focused work and a headache. The accent color (used for cursor and links) is tuned to be visible on dark without being aggressive — calibrated against the WCAG AAA contrast standard for body text.

The rest of the notepad
Beyond dark mode you get multiple tabs (like Windows Notepad), autosave to your browser, markdown preview, shareable links that don't touch a server, full offline support, find & replace, and zero ads.
